He doesn’t shoot very often, but if you leave Jonathan dos Santos alone at the top of the box the El Tri regular will make you pay.
It was back in May when the LA Galaxy sans Zlatan were battling Orlando City at Exploria Stadium: Jonathan dos Santos stepped up to a loose clearance at the top of the box and guided a curved laser of a finish around the helpless Brian Rowe.
History repeated itself Sunday night on the Allianz Field pitch: Romain Alessandrini drew attention to himself with a pair of touches and expertly shuffled the ball to dos Santos near the top of the box. Jona did the rest, applying the right amount of power and placement to send a dipping shot past Victor Mannone and double the Galaxy lead.
Like he tends to do during big moments, dos Santos celebrated by kissing the Galaxy crest with an air of complete ecstasy. Can’t ask for more than that.
