After missing the playoffs in 2017 and 2018, the standard bearers are back. Led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 30 (thirty!) strikes, the irreplaceable Jonathan dos Santos and the late-season production of Cristian Pavon, the LA Galaxy have qualified for the Audi MLS 2019 postseason.
Playoffs was the single word usually muttered by Guillermo Barros Schelotto when asked about this year’s expectations. Now that the LA Galaxy boss has steered the club back to the postseason, what does Guille expect from his players?
“It’s like when you are going to party” GBS explained to reporters after a light training session last week. “Now we’re going to dance.” The Galaxy can dance all right, but the team is also susceptible to slipping at a moment’s notice. With single-game elimination, there will be no room for error.
Be sure to follow along at LAG Confidential all week as we cover all things Galaxy while the club prepares for their opening round matchup at Allianz Field Sunday night (5:30, ESPN) vs. Minnesota United.
MISSION ONE: COMPLETE
Goals from Sebastian Lletget and Jona dos Santos were enough for LA to top the Loons on the road.
