LA Galaxy II sign forward Preston Judd, midfielder Daniel Aguirre

Rookies earn pro deals in Galaxy organization.

LA Galaxy II announced Wednesday the signings of two players, forward Preston Judd and midfielder Daniel Aguirre, ahead of the 2021 season.

Judd, 21, was the LA Galaxy’s 2nd round MLS SuperDraft pick in January. The Las Vegas native played college soccer at the University of Denver and before that at California Baptist University, and actually signed a pro deal with Sporting Kansas City II before the draft, but now he’ll embark on his professional career in the same division but with another MLS reserve team.

“Preston is an attacking player who will add depth to the LA Galaxy II offense,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese in a team statement. “We look forward to his continued development within the organization and are excited to see his contributions to the LA Galaxy II in the upcoming season.”

Aguirre, 21, is a Bay Area native who has been on trial with the Galaxy organization this preseason. He played three seasons at UC Riverside, winning the Big West Conference with them in 2018.

Aguirre has played quite a few minutes in the publicly available Galaxy first-team preseason games so far and it seemed like a good bet he’d win a contract with at least Los Dos.

“Daniel is a talented midfielder who has a promising future within our club,” said LA Galaxy Te Kloese. “We are excited for the immediate impact he will have with LA Galaxy II and look forward to seeing his personal and professional growth within our organization.”

We’re up to 12 announced Los Dos players at this point. I’d expect maybe a couple more signings, but the rest of the squad will likely be made up of academy players and first teamers on loan. Galaxy II open the 2021 USL Championship season Apr. 30 at home against Sacramento Republic.
