Big news for women’s soccer in Los Angeles, as reports Monday emerged that an NWSL team will be announced for the city on Tuesday.
American soccer legend Mia Hamm was among several to post teasers on their social media Monday.

And soccer reporter Grant Wahl filled in some details that a team is coming to LA.

These reports appear to dovetail with earlier reports from Meg Linehan at The Athletic that a Los Angeles NWSL bid was being lined up behind businesswoman Julie Uhrman, with the team reportedly set to play at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Then, Jonathan Tannenwald of the Philadelphia Inquirer revealed some of the big names attached to the ownership group.
Names apparently on the NWSL Los Angeles ownership list so far:

Mia Hamm
Abby Wambach
Julie Foudy
Joy Fawcett
Angela Hucles
Tisha Hoch
Saskia Webber
Natalie Portman
Alexis Ohanian
It appears neither LA MLS team will take a front-foot role with the NWSL team, beyond perhaps the LA Galaxy’s use of their facility. In a way, this could be a way for the whole city to rally behind a team together.
We’ll see what the details are Tuesday, but some internet sleuths seems to have discovered the team likely has “Angel” and “City” in their name. Beyond that? We’ll find out.
