It’s round three of the LA Galaxy jersey bracket tournament, and today we have some MLS Cup glory years, plus a few others thrown in for good measure.
We’ll introduce all the designs below, and at the end you vote for your favorite. One note: Because jerseys in this era rotated on a two-year cycle, this round consists of all jerseys introduced between 2008-13.
With that, let’s look through history.
2008-09

The update on the initial rebrand/Beckham-era kits, the primary features more straightforward piping and a simple look.
2009-10

The secondary was a basic blue, no bells or whistles, although they barely wore these so they were a nice palate cleanser every so often.
2010-11

These primary jerseys were perhaps the boldest in Galaxy history, and what I mean by that is they were skintight. They weren’t “Puma at the World Cup” skintight, but considering we were just a few years removed in MLS from having the most billowy jerseys possible, seeing all the contours on the players’ upper bodies was quite bold, and something that was not for the faint-of-heart among fans.
2011-12

Another nice, simple secondary, with a little bit of piping brought back for visual detail. Again, these aren’t showstoppers, but they do offer a nice break from the primary whites once in a while.

This third jersey, officially called “Punjab Blue,” is now referred to the “LAFC before LAFC” jersey, the Galaxy sporting essentially a black and gold look. Also skintight and with some Adidas special technology that didn’t seem to catch on, these make a good case to be the best third kit in MLS history.
2012-13

The sash is back! Finally, the Galaxy stopped running away from their destiny and brought back the sash, and it looks mighty fine here.
2013-14

The alternate jersey is a variation on the previous ones, different shade of blue and keeping it simple. More of the same.

This third jersey is probably the most polarizing of the lot. Incorporating all the colors in the original 1996 Galaxy jersey, it’s either so wacky it’s cool, or just tacky.
