Technically, negotiations have ended between the LA Galaxy and Boca Juniors regarding the transfer of Cristian Pavon.

Of course, this depends of what sources you want to believe. ESPN Argentina reported Boca rejecting a $16 million offer for the talented winger, however domestic sources have disputed that number. Boca president Daniel Angelici weighed in on the matter himself.

“For Pavón we don’t have a formal and concrete offer. They told us about the Galaxy but the numbers did not conform to me. Before a bad sale I prefer to lend it to a European club.”

This statement clashes with what we’ve observed the past few weeks, which have seen the Galaxy organization negotiate back and forth without serious competition from other clubs.

Angelici is likely using the press in an attempt to gain leverage. Dennis te Kloese dismissed the notion of a self-imposed deadline, so the club has until August 7th to finalize a deal or pursue an alternate option such as Independiente’s Martín Benítez.
