The David Beckham statue is a work of art

Hours after the Galaxy wrapped up a thrilling come from behind victory over the Chicago Fire to cap off a jam-packed Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park, fans were still taking photos of LA’s newest Instagram worthy spot. A project years in the making, the stunning sculpture has several characteristics which arguably give Beckham’s work a leg up on the many classic Laker statues erected around the Staples Center.

For one, creator Omri Amrany and his talented crew gave the sculpture a full color job complete with details, from the Adidas LA Galaxy 2012 home shirt complete with scudetto down to the socks. Only Beckham’s natural features have that traditional statue look.

Additionally Amrany’s team decided to add energy accents to David’s arms and legs to replicate the blur effect when shooting an athlete in motion, a smart idea which looks incredible in person.

So when does Robbie Keane get his statue? Inquiring minds want to know.
