LA Galaxy at MNUTD match preview: What to watch, projected starting XI and TV schedule

Win or the season is done

MLS: LA Galaxy at Minnesota United FC Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The Audi 2019 MLS Cup playoffs are here, and the postseason is coming fast.

Under the league’s new single-elimination format, the LA Galaxy have to win at Minnesota United Sunday night (ESPN, 5:30 PT) to advance. Escape Allianz Field with all three points or the season is done.

What to watch

How can LA breach the Loons’ bend but don’t break defense? After all, Minnesota United will be happy to sit back and absorb Galaxy pressure. Even the usually unstoppable Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be marked by the formidable duo of Defender of the Year Ike Opara and Opta Best XI center back Michael Boxall.

If the Loons manage to bottle Pavón as well (tough but doable), someone else in attack will have to be decisive on the night.

Is Le Garcon set to make his dramatic comeback in the postseason? All signs point to YES. The status of Joe Corona, sidelined with a sprained toe, is less certain.
