Sigi Schmid’s second match in charge will be against the Portland Timbers; and he has a new player. Will he use him?

We take a look.

Goalkeeper: Rowe

After shutting out Schmid’s old side, the Seattle Sounders, there is no question that Brian Rowe will be the man in between the sticks for this clash against the Timbers.

Defense: Cole, Arellano, Steres, Van Anholt

Pele Van Anholt performed well in his MLS debut. With each match he gets, his confidence will surely grow.

Midfield: Jones, Pedro

These two are still looking to find their chemistry together. But with Pedro forming into a more solid defensive midfielder, this should allow Jones to roam up the pitch more.

Attacking Midfield: Alessandrini, G. Dos Santos, J. Dos Santos

Will tomorrow be Jonathon Dos Santos’ debut for the Galaxy? It’s tough say. How fit is he? Can he last 90 minutes? Would it be worth it sending him out for 45 minutes then subbing him out at halftime?

If JdS isn’t ready for the starting XI, expect Emmanuel Boateng to take his place.

Forward: Zardes

Gyasi Zardes is back up top where he belongs in Schmid’s system. All he needs to do, is make runs into the box, and with the front three in tact, the service should come. And then, eventually, he’ll get on the score sheet once more.
