The LA Galaxy are interested in bringing over Andrea Pirlo in the winter transfer window according to a report by ESPN FC. The 35-year-old Italian midfielder is under contract through 2016, but multiple sources are reporting the club's interest in bringing Pirlo over to replace Landon Donovan after his retirement.

In the report Bruce Arena does not confirm the rumors but does say that the club is interested in a player of his caliber. At this point the club is likely putting out feelers for multiple players they think could fill the hole left by Landon Donovan. I expect this to be the first report of many, but I wouldn't go getting a Pirlo Galaxy jersey just yet.

The biggest concern with this signing would be paying a transfer fee for a 35-year-old player. LA has gotten so many good years out of Robbie Keane making his transfer fee absolutely worth it. That's the transfer MLS teams should be looking for, the talented player stuck not getting playing time who can give five or six years.

I don't get the impression Pirlo would be that guy. Glad to see the feelers are out there, but I'd pass on him.
