Univision released an average rating across the octofinal matches, with the US clocking in at 5.1 million total viewers. Final ratings for the US-Belgium tilt on ESPN average out to 9.8 US households, with an average of 16,491,000 viewers.
The United States may have lost 2-1 to Belgium, but a record number of people tuned in to watch it on ESPN. The cable network averaged a 9.6 overnight rating, making it the highest overnight rating for a World Cup match on ESPN or ESPN2.
