David Beckham Wants To Be Involved Sunday

David Beckham told MLSSoccer.com in a phone interview yesterday that he hopes to be available for Sunday's match against the Colorado Rapids. Beckham still appears on the injury report as questionable, but his progress this week in practice could see him return to action.

"Trying to get my fitness back – I was working on fitness while I was injured, but nothing, obviously, like playing games and being in training. Hopefully, I can get out on the field and stay fit this week and be involved"

Beckham's availability is the big story for the Galaxy this week, but LA has managed without him in the two MLS matches he's missed. The Galaxy defeated the Colorado Rapids 2-0 at The Home Depot Center, and then followed that up with a 4-2 victory over Toronto FC.

Much of that success has to be accredited to Juninho stepping up and dropping deadly strikes from the center midfielder position. Yet, as good as Landon Donovan is at corner kicks and free kicks, Beckham's skill in those situations simply can't be replaced. Still, it's not necessary for Beckham to rush back if he's still not feeling 100% with the October matches much more important than the one Sunday.
