We continue our 2012 LA Galaxy player reviews with another player currently out of contract, Mike Magee. He's two years short of thirty, but is already a ten year MLS veteran. Magee came up through the IMG soccer academy, the same residency program that produced Landon Donovan.

This season Magee finished eighty sixth in the Castrol Index, though he often finished low in Match Impact Rating. At .44 points per 90 his contributions were frequently beneficial, and it marks his best season since 2009. He also played in 29 regular season games, his highest total appearances in MLS since his rookie season with the Metrostars.

Magee made about $4,353 per 90, a fair salary for a veteran of his experience. Much of Magee's legend comes from his ability to step up in big moments. To wit, he scored three goals in the playoffs this year and scored five over the course of the entire regular season.

Magee nearly scored in MLS Cup, his attempt on goal was intentionally deflected by a Houston defender's arm leading to Landon Donovan's go ahead penalty kick. The hashtag Mike Magee facts was born in 2011 when Mike Magee played goalkeeper for the Galaxy after both keepers had to leave the match in San Jose. Magee kept a clean sheet.

The midfielder is really starting to hit his stride, and has the benefit of a decade in MLS. He's not getting attention from Europe, so the Galaxy should get a fair price for him. He wasn't listed for the re-entry draft, and every indication has been given that LA will find a way to bring him back.
