There’s a total of five players from the LA Galaxy currently on international duty, and Thursday could be a big day for G’s on assignment, as several of them could play with their respective countries in action.
If you need a soccer fix or want to support Galaxy players, here’s who could feature (and who won’t) and how you may be able to watch on Thursday.
Nations League Finals
Two Galaxy players total — Sebastian Lletget (United States), Jonathan dos Santos (Mexico) and Giancarlo Gonzalez (Costa Rica) — have been called up for the four-team inaugural Concacaf Nations League Finals mini-tournament.
Lletget’s game is first on tap, the United States scheduled for 4:30 pm PT against Honduras. You can watch on Paramount+ or on TUDN or Univision, which you can watch on Fubo TV. Given Lletget has been a constant in the U.S. Men’s National Team lineup under Gregg Berhalter and scored in the weekend’s loss to Switzerland, it’s a good bet he’ll feature in this game.
After that, dos Santos’ Mexico take on Gonzalez’s Costa Rica at 7 pm PT. Conveniently, it’s the same deal to watch, on Paramount+ or Univision or TUDN. Dos Santos was ruled out on Wednesday by head coach Gerardo Martino, who says he’ll be out for two weeks with the knock he took in the Cali Clasico. Gonzalez hasn’t played for his club yet this season so we’ll see if he slots in for his country or not.
All four teams involved in the Finals are guaranteed a second game, but obviously they’d all rather play in the actual final than the third-place game.
Friendly
Defender Oniel Fisher was recalled by Jamaica for a friendly against a younger Japan side in Sapporo on Thursday. However, that game was cancelled on Tuesday over several Jamaican players being unable to get proper COVID screening to get on the plane in the first place. So that game’s off.
So there you have it. We’ll keep an eye on the games and let you know if any good stuff happens.
