The LA Galaxy had just one MLS Player of the Week award in 2020, but they have all of the Player of the Week awards so far for the 2021 season...which is just one week old.
No worries, as Chicharito was voted MLS Player of the Week for Week 1 of the 2021 season, after his two-goal performance in a comeback 3-2 win on the road against Inter Miami gave the Galaxy a rousing opening to the Greg Vanney era on Sunday.
INSTANT CLASSIC.

Chicharito’s brace on Sunday matched his entire goal output in 2020 for the Galaxy, so at this rate, he’s on pace to score somewhere around 68 goals this season.
But seriously though, this was a vintage Chicharito performance and he played a big role in the comeback win. If this helps unlock his potential and gets him on track to be a regular scorer, then the Galaxy will be much better already.
Congrats to Chicharito and hopefully this is just the first of many POTW awards for the Galaxy this season.
