MLS released the full 2021 regular season schedule, at last, on Wednesday, and now we know the full slate on tap for the LA Galaxy in the upcoming campaign.
Unlike the retooled 2020 schedule, this new slate will still be mostly played in-conference, with 32 of 34 games scheduled against fellow Western Conference foes, but there will be more variety of said foes this time around, and perhaps best of all, the maximum times the Galaxy will play an opponent in the regular season is three times. So there won’t be six El Traficos and six California Clasicos this time around.
The two Eastern Conference games are the first two of the season for the Galaxy, oddly enough, and 12 games are on weekdays, mostly on Wednesdays but with a Friday, Tuesday and Monday sprinkled in.
The Galaxy fared pretty badly in 2020, but with a new coach, some new faces on the roster, and a fresh new schedule, perhaps they can bust out of the doldrums and get back in the playoffs at a minimum this year.
