The LA Galaxy made it official Wednesday, announcing they have signed midfielder Carlos Harvey from Panamanian club Tauro FC. The news was originally reported last week in the Panamanian press.
The 21-year-old returns to the club after spending the last two years on loan from Tauro in the Galaxy organization, in 2019 with LA Galaxy II and last year split between the USL Championship squad and first team, where he made six appearances in MLS play.
“Carlos is a young player who performed well with LA Galaxy II and helped provide depth for the first team last season,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese in a team statement. “At 21 years old, we are confident that Carlos will continue to develop as a player in an MLS environment. This signing will provide depth for us in the midfield and will serve as an investment towards the future. We look forward to him remaining with our club.”
A holding midfielder, Harvey won’t show up much in highlight films, but he’s a highly-touted prospect and if he’s developing well, could be in line for more playing time in 2021. But he’ll likely be a bench and rotation option under Greg Vanney this season.
