LA Galaxy II sign midfielder Taylor Davila

Galaxy academy product turns pro.

LA Galaxy II announced Thursday they have signed midfielder Taylor Davila to the USL Championship side ahead of the 2021 season.

The 20-year-old is a product of the Galaxy Academy, and played two years of college soccer at Cal.

“Taylor is a promising player who will bring depth to our midfield as we continue strengthening the LA Galaxy II roster,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese in a team statement. “We are excited to have him rejoin our club and look forward to his continued development within our organization as we prepare for the 2021 season.”

Davila was a consistent starter for Cal in 2018 and 2019, earning All Pac 12 first team honors and All-Far West region first team honors for his sophomore campaign. A member of the Galaxy academy the year before he went to college, he also played youth ball for Real So Cal and made his USL Championship debut in 2018 with one appearance for Los Dos as an amateur player.

The Sherman Oaks native is the first player signing announced for Los Dos for the upcoming season. Expect most of the players on the roster to once again be academy players, loanees from the first team, and/or holdovers from last year, but perhaps we’ll see some more outright signings as well before the season starts in May. We’ll keep you posted.
