LA Galaxy’s GODFATHER has qualified for the season’s final tournament.

MLS announced Thursday the 2020 eMLS Cup has been scheduled for June 28. Instead of taking place at a central site, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic means the tournament will be held remotely.

The top 11 in the season standings are automatically qualified for the final event of the season, and that means LA Galaxy eMLS pro Giuseppe “GODFATHER” Guastella is in. Guastella sits in 6th place. He will take on the Portland Timbers’ representative, Edgar “RCTID Thiago” Guerrero in the opening round of the knockout tournament.

The winner will get bragging rights, a trophy, and $20,000 in prize money.

The tournament will take place from 10 am-3 pm on June 28, and will be streamed on MLS’s Twitch channel, MLS’s Twitter account, and MLSsoccer.com.

It’s going to be interesting, as the remote set-up could prove challenging for some players. On the other hand, unlike MLS players, eMLS players have basically been in season this whole time, most of them have been regularly streaming during the coronavirus pandemic and not much about their set-up has changed.

Best of luck to GODFATHER at the 2020 eMLS Cup.
