The LA Galaxy are inaugurating a new tradition weekly during the coronavirus shutdown, as they’ll be streaming their five MLS Cup wins over the next several weeks, every Monday.
First up: Where it all started, the 2002 MLS Cup, the first triumph for the Galaxy. Beating the New England Revolution in New England, Carlos Ruiz had the golden goal to win the trophy, with a slew of LA legends featuring for the winning side on the day.
LAGalaxy.com will stream the game starting at 12 pm PT, available for those in the Los Angeles viewing region (I don’t know why teams are geoblocking these streams outside their local markets, but the Galaxy aren’t the only MLS side to be doing this. Still, it’s unclear exactly why a stream of a game that’s almost two decades old, or any old game, needs to be geoblocked at all). Tune in, look back on the old days and enjoy the ride. And feel free to share your favorite memories or moments from the game.
