Julian Araujo voted LAG Confidential’s LA Galaxy 2020 Young Player of the Year

Some competition, but rising star garnered most votes.

Julian Araujo had another strong season for the LA Galaxy, and now the defender takes another honor, as voted by you, the readers of LAG Confidential, as he’s won the Galaxy 2020 Young Player of the Year award.

Araujo, 19, played in 17 games in 2020 for the Galaxy, all starts, splitting time between defense and midfield. He pitched in with three assists and a goal, and was a bright spot during a difficult season overall for the Galaxy.

Araujo ultimately garnered 66 percent of the vote, with Efrain Alvarez finishing second in our poll with 17 percent.

The honor for Araujo is even more logical as it’s not just Galaxy fans who have seen his potential and current production, with the likes of Serie A giant Juventus reportedly keeping tabs on Araujo and possibly getting ready to make a bid in January.

We’ll see what happens on that front, but Araujo was definitely fair value for the Young Player of the Year award. Congrats to him for the honor.
