How to Watch LA Galaxy vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: Lineups, odds, game thread

Can Galaxy turn it around in this one?

Lineups:

LA leave Chicharito on the bench to start this one. Giancarlo Gonzalez gets a recall in defense.

Vancouver keep most of the lineup they used midweek against LAFC.

The good news about all the games is that the fast pace gives struggling teams a chance to close the book on the last game quickly, which is what the LA Galaxy will have to do in their game scheduled Sunday against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Galaxy are coming off a 4-0 loss against the San Jose Earthquakes, at home, for their sixth straight loss overall. The season is lost, or close to it, but with this short season and compressed schedule, a few wins can completely turn things around, even for the Galaxy, even now. But they need to get that first win to actually make some progress.

They’ll play a Whitecaps side that’s been very streaky this season, and they’ve won their last two games, including a win Wednesday over LAFC, with Lucas Cavallini scoring a brace in the victory. Marc Dos Santos’ team really haven’t figured it all out, but they are inching closer to respectability, and they definitely have the ability to beat anyone — remember way back in March when they shocked the Galaxy in the home opener?

It’s do or die time for LA, basically. If they can get a win, they can start to breathe. If not, the season will look more and more dead. Let’s see what happens!

Odds:

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Saturday evening, LA are (-162) while Vancouver are (+360). The odds of a draw are also (+330), so the bookmakers think the Galaxy are huge favorites. Once again, I’m surprised but we’ll see.

How to Watch:

Sunday’s match between LA and the Whitecaps will be televised locally on Spectrum SportsNet and in the rest of the country on ESPN+. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm PT with kickoff to follow.
