As it turns out the LA Galaxy found it difficult to keep up the momentum of their season highlighting victory over LAFC, dropping a lopsided 4-0 decision to the Portland Timbers Saturday night at Providence Park.

The Galaxy had their chances, but on two occasions the Timbers took advantage of close calls from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and counter-attacked to deadly effect: Sebastian Blanco put a cross from the right flank on a dime for Cristhian Paredes and Diego Valeri would score four minutes later to give Portland a two-goal lead heading into the break.
Parades added a volley in the 80th minutes to seal the match, then Efrain Alvarez was handed a red card for violent conduct, the first of the season for LA, coincidentally a week after many were upset at Zlatan Ibra for escaping a suspension for violent conduct himself. A Jeremy Ebobisse header made it four for Portland as Diego Polenta was given a red following the match, and Ibra will now miss the next match at Atlanta for yellow-card accumulation as well.
