The LA Galaxy moved up a spot in this week’s Power Rankings after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and company put together a convincing performance vs. Real Salt Lake over the weekend without their expensive Designated Players.
Ibra’s brace was obviously the deciding factor, but an influential second half cameo from Bradford Jamieson IV and the tireless workrate of Ola Kamara were instrumental in a commanding victory.
Sigi Schmid’s side can now head into the World Cup break with a bit of momentum, but not for long: LA travel up north to battle the Portland Timbers in a U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 matchup this Friday.

Talent may have given LA a big edge against RSL coming in, but form was in RSL’s favor. No matter, as Nick Rimando’s mistake opened the door and the Galaxy came tumbling through, picking up a needed home win in the process.
Atlanta United still tops the rankings followed by Sporting Kansas City and the Columbus Crew, while the Colorado Rapids are hopelessly mired in the cellar.
