Another important cog in the LA Galaxy attack will be returning next season.
This morning the club announced veteran Chris Pontius has signed a new deal. The University of California, Santa Barbara grad contributed five goals and six assists during a rocky 2018 campaign. Mid-way through the season the 31-year old was in red-hot form, recording a goal or an assist in seven straight matches.
“We are pleased to re-sign Chris and bring him back to our club,” Galaxy GM Dennis te Kloese echoed in a statement. “Chris showed his value and versatility last year and was an important member of our squad. He is an asset on and off the field and we look forward to his continued contributions to our club.” Financial details of the deal were not released but you can expect those numbers to be made public at some point.
The Galaxy open the 2019 MLS season vs. the Chicago Fire at the newly renamed Dignity Health Sports Park.
