All along it was expected Zlatan would stay in Los Angeles for another year.

Had the LA Galaxy organization managed to frustrate the Swedish target striker enough, perhaps discussions between superstar agent Mino Raiola and AC Milan may have gone somewhere. In the end however, the club will reward Zlatan’s sensational 2018 production of 22 goals and 10 assists with a new contract that makes Ibra a Designated Player.

The LA Times’ Kevin Baxter has the inside scoop.

Days after AC Milan sporting director Leonardo said talks with his club regarding a winter loan had come to an end, an MLS source confirmed Tuesday that Ibrahimovic has a new deal with the league. The Galaxy declined comment but an official announcement is expected next week.

With Zlatan expected to sign a new deal, newly minted GM Dennis te Kloese must find a way to move one of Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos or Romain Alessandrini.
