Monday morning the LA Galaxy retained four members of this year’s squad while eight others had their options declined.
U.S. international midfielder Sebastian Lletget, attacking asset Bradford Jamieson IV, defender Daniel Steres and goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg will return in 2018. On the flip side, defenders Ashley Cole, Rolf Feltscher, Michael Ciani and Sheanon Williams, goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre, midfielders Baggio Husidic and Servando Carrasco and forward Ariel Lassiter had their options declined.
Additionally, free agents Chris Pontius, Dave Romney and Emmanuel Boateng are currently negotiating with the Galaxy to come back.
As of now, the Galaxy roster stands at 16 players including the on-loan Joao Pedro and the oft-loathed Giovani dos Santos. Without a general manager or a head coach, how long can the front office operate without filling either position? Time’s ticking.
Current roster: David Bingham, Justin Vom Steeg, Jorgen Skjelvik, Tomas Hilliard-Arce, Hugo Arellano, Daniel Steres, Romain Alessandrini, Jonathan dos Santos, Perry Kitchen, João Pedro, Sebastian Lletget, Bradford Jamieson IV, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Ola Kamara, Giovani dos Santos, Efrain Alvarez
