Frustrated and out of ideas, a listless Galaxy team were defeated 3-0 by the San Jose Earthquakes Sunday afternoon at the StubHub Center in what was admittedly a boring California Clasico.

The first half was a mixed bag for LA as both teams traded chances. Early on a letoff from the Galaxy back line led to a Marco Urena breakaway, but his pulled his shot well wide of Jon Kempin’s net.
New DP signing Jonathan dos Santos played well alongside his brother Gio, smacking a shot from distance off the crossbar at one point, but like the rest of the squad looked cursed in front of net. Speaking of cursed, Pete van Anholt was forced to exit the match on a stretcher with a sprained right knee.
To complete a throughly dismal opening 45 minutes for LA, Quakes DP signing Valeri “Vako” Qazaishvili smashed home a loose ball off a cross to hand San Jose a shocking halftime lead.
A straight red card to Nathan Smith only compounded the Galaxy’s problems, and it was no surprise when Urena secured the win in the 80th minute. Chris Wondolowski scored in stoppage time off a chip to complete a resounding victory.
What’s next for LA?
