Great news for Giovani dos Santos, bad news for Galaxy fans.
The Mexican Soccer Federation have announced this morning that the LA Galaxy attacker has been named to Juan Carlos Osorio’s preliminary roster that will face Honduras and the USA in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying matches.

Following the D.C. United road game on June 3rd, dos Santos will join his teammates for a few days before El Tri play both Honduras on June 8th and the USA on June 11th at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Dos Santos is also available for Confederations Cup selection later in the month.
How this plays out for the Galaxy ultimately depends on whether dos Santos is called up for the tournament. The World Cup dress rehearsal begins a week after the US match and runs through July 2nd, right when the schedule gets congested for LA, meaning Gio could miss potentially up to five matches. Ouch.
