I'm going to be honest. This is a hard game to get up for. If my team wasn't playing, I sure as heck wouldn't watch. In the recent years DC United managed to turn their team from the losingest in MLS history, to supporter shield contenders, and yet they did so WITHOUT managing to add any bit of what I call "watchability" to their game. In short, they play ugly soccer.
Last year, the Galaxy were the kings of "watchability" but they have yet to show it this year. Add on top of this the laundry list of absences from the lineup including our MVP Robbie Keane, and the prospects of a watchable game between the two of them is small. But the Galaxy is our team, damnit, and we must endure. After dropping points at home, a road win is exactly what the Galaxy need to get back on track. But can they pull it off?
What to Watch:
- Let's pretend for a moment that Bruce Arena isn't going to play Gordon and Buddle as forwards. All of a sudden, the lineup begins to look intriguing. Do you move Villarreal under Gordon, Rogers to left mid and slide in AJ DeLaGarza to left back? Old dependable Bruce occasionally throws something crazy on the field, so it's not that far out of the realm of possibility
- Baggio Husidic has not had a good last couple of games, and the Galaxy's entire offense has suffered as a result, Add the fact that Mika Vayrynen is getting back to full fitness and is breathing down his neck, and Baggio may need a good performance in DC to keep his job. Will this light a fire under him?
- Gordon has been great at finding late game winners, but tends to do poorly when he starts. Can Gordon reverse the trend?
