Mika Vayrynen will not be returning to the Galaxy in 2016

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

There may very well be a seismic shakeup on the way for the Galaxy roster, and it looks like the first domino has fallen.  On Friday afternoon, Mika Vayrynen tweeted the following, indicating he will not be returning to the club.

While nothing is confirmed, the wording certainly suggests that Mika Vayrynen is not retiring, and therefore could have been cut.  While it has been argued that Mika Vayrynen's form with the Galaxy had a lot to do with injury, it's hard to argue that his salary of $227,496 wasn't a burden on the Galaxy cap, given his lack of production.

With Todd Dunivant retiring ($205,750) and now Mika Vayrynen off the books ($227,496), the LA Galaxy should, in theory, have and extra $433,246 to play with, which can get them anywhere from one to three players, depending on salary level, or even retain certain players that are due raises.

What do you think of Mika Vayrynen leaving? Are you sad to see him go? Excited to see that cap space opened up? Sound off, below.
