Robbie Keane to coach LAFC?

It could happen, according to Grant Wahl

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Grant Wahl sure likes to drop news bombs.

America's most prominent soccer journalist has revealed Galaxy captain and Ireland international Robbie Keane could be thinking about managing the expansion LA franchise when they began play in 2018.

"LAFC isn’t set to start play until 2018, but a well-connected LA source says to keep an eye on Keane as a potential coach for the team. Keane has been working on his coaching badges and has already said he’d like to manage at the pro level, potentially in the United States. Keane and his wife love L.A., and they happened to live in the same building as LAFC president Tom Penn until recently. I’m told Keane and Penn have developed a strong friendship as a result."

Does this rumor have any legs? Possibly. Keano loves a challenge, and who knows what Tom Penn could offer to lure Keane to LAFC. On the other hand, you would think Robbie Keane would love to coach the Galaxy someday, and how many of us still see Bruce still at the helm in 2018? We could just as likely see Robbie managing the LA Galaxy in a few years' time.
