The MLS All-Stars got it done against Bayern Munich winning 2-1, and it was the LA Galaxy's Landon Donovan who scored the match winner in his fourteenth straight MLS All-Star Game. Donovan was voted MLS All-Star Game MVP for his efforts.
"I think anytime you can beat Bayern Munich that's a good feat," said Landon Donovan. "We played hard and put on a good show."
The other big story on the night was Pep Guardiola refusing to shake hands with Caleb Porter after the match. Anyone who has seen The Damn United knows how much it can mean when a coach refuses to shake hands, and in this instance it Guardiola seemingly upset over some tough tackles by the MLS All Stars.
It marks the end of the summer friendly season, and in that respect it was a good moment for MLS after several clubs were put through the ringer by European competition. Ultimately the best thing about friendly season being over is MLS teams being able to focus fully on the rest of the season.
Donovan should be able to go a full 90 on Friday, only going less than 25 minutes against Munich.
