The LA Galaxy are featured in the latest episode of MLS Insider which seeks to give the supporter's perspective on the CONCACAF Champions League battle between LA and Club Tijuana. The short documentary series was broadcast as a half hour NBC Sports series last season, but this season will debut on KICKTV's youtube channel.
The teams don't have much history, but the battle is being billed as a fight for Southern California (apologies to the club formerly known as Chivas USA). MLS Insider interviewed "Brownie" of the Angel City Brigade and a San Diego area based Xolos fan to get the scoop on why they root for their chosen teams. Proximity seems to play a factor in both cases, with the border meaning a lot less than some might think.
Paul Arriola's jump to Tijuana (again, proximity) is profiled, and Herculez Gomez is interviewed as well. Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez give the poor American club perspective as to why US teams haven't managed to come through against Mexican competition.
The video is worth a viewing, as we prepare for tonight's festivities.
