LA Galaxy Academy Update: 11 players sign college letters of intent

On National Signing Day, 11 LA Galaxy Academy players signed letters of intent to play for American universities. Four of the 11 will be playing for UC Santa Barbara.

The LA Galaxy Academy had a very strong showing on National Signing Day with 11 players filing letters of intent to play college soccer. Four of the 11 will suit up for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.

Here's the breakdown of the destinations for the Academy players:

UC Santa Barbara-Adonis Amaya (USSDA 2013-2014 current leading goal scorer with 14 goals in 13 matches), Jeffrey Quezada (Galaxy U-18 Captain), Axel Mendez, and Ryo Fuji

UCLA-Steve Martinez and Christian Chavez

Cal Poly-Hugo Gutierrez

Loyola Marymount-Raymundo Barajas

University of San Francisco-Manny Padilla and Justin Schottenhammer.

Utah Valley University-Justin Eng

The Galaxy U-18s have just kicked off against The Vancouver Whitecaps in a USSDA match at the StubHub Center's Field 5. The U-18s are 9-3-2 on the season and sit behind Real Salt Lake (8-1-3) in the USSDA U-17/U-18 Southwest Division based on points per match. The Whitecaps are 9-3-1 and are currently second in the Northwest Division.
