President Obama To Welcome MLS Champion LA Galaxy To White House

It's been known since President Barack Obama called LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena while the club was on their Asian tour with congratulations and an invitation that LA would be visiting Washington DC at some point this year. The Office of the Press Secretary has sent out the formal invitation, and now we know the Galaxy have been invited to join the President at the White House on Tuesday May 15th.

There will be a ceremony with the president, to honor the accomplishments of the 2011 season. If it follows the same script as last year, it will be held in the East Room of the White House. The East Room is the White House's public hall, and is the current display room of the Lansdowne portrait.

After the ceremony, the Galaxy will take part in a soccer clinic on the South Lawn with the First Lady. Children from around the country will get the opportunity to partake in drills with members of the LA Galaxy.

DC is home to its fair share of foreign press, and with David Beckham present it should be quite the scene.
