Right now, the top three spots are locked up,
With a shot at the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
The Galaxy play with a shot at fourth,
As Metapan host our team from up north.
Will El Salvador be a hospitable host?
Or will the Galaxy reserves become toast?
Fourth seed for LA comes with a win,
Goal Differential pushes them in.
A draw would mean sixth seed unless,
Xelaju get through Chivas no less.
Herediano awaits fourth seed now,
But Xelaju could step in and how.
Sixth seed and Sounders would play,
In the states the Galaxy would stay.
Should the Galaxy lose,
It's simply bad news,
Santos Laguna or Monterrey.
-----
The LA Galaxy reserves are in El Salvador today to take on Isidro Metapan. Metapan has nothing to play for, but LA is counting on their reserves to get yet another favorable result in CONCACAF Champions League. Currently they sit in the seventh seed spot, and with a loss and a CD Guadalajara win they would stay there and face Santos Laguna in the quarterfinals.
More favorable would be a Galaxy win. That would move them into fourth place, and with their favorable goal differential they'd face either Herediano or Xelaju should they manage to defeat Guadalajara.
A draw would push the Galaxy ahead of the Houston Dynamo, where as the sixth seed they face the Seattle Sounders in the quarterfinals. Again, a Xelaju victory would push all the lower seeds down one, putting the Galaxy back in seventh. A Xelaju draw in Guadalajara would keep LA in sixth.
So it's fairly simple should the Galaxy win, they go in the top half of the seeds and get a favorable matchup, but would be in the same side of the bracket as Monterrey. Draw or a loss and they're in the bottom half of seeds needing to go through Santos Laguna at some point.
All there's left to do is play the games.
