The accolades continue to pour in for LA Galaxy players this week, as forward Chicharito was named MLS Player of the Month for the combined April/May 2021 slate on Wednesday by the league, as voted on by a national media panel (full disclosure: I am part of that panel).
Chicharito leads the league in scoring over that span with seven in seven games, with an assist thrown in for good measure, as the Galaxy have turned their fortunes around to start the current campaign, with a 5W-2L-0D start in 2021.

In addition to leading the Golden Boot standings, the Mexican is also the first player this season to win two MLS Player of the Week honors, those coming in the first two weeks of the season.
So, I think this is a deserved honor, and an expected one. He’s one of the biggest stars in the league, and he’s performing and his team is getting results more often than not. Ergo, he’s Player of the Month. Congratulations to Chicha and long may this vein of form continue.
