Chicharito is LA Galaxy Player of the Month for May

The votes are in, thanks to all who cast ballots for LAG Confidential’s LA Galaxy Player of the Month award for May 2021, and the winner is forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez.

He had two goals and an assist in the month of May for the Galaxy, as LA went 3W-2L-0D in the month. Most notably, he was the star of LA’s 2-1 win over LAFC, and he added an insurance goal in the win over Austin FC in the following game. Add to that a solid shift in the rivalry win over the San Jose Earthquakes and it was quite a productive month for player and team.

Chicharito beat out Jonathan Bond to be Player of the Month, the goalkeeper getting pretty close to taking the award off the striker, in spite of Chicharito also being the reigning MLS Player of the Month. To be sure, Bond has also been putting in work and would not have been a big upset had he won.

But goals are sexy and Chicharito had some in May, and he gets the nod. Congrats to the star on taking the award.
