Thursday morning at the Dignity Health Sports Park training grounds, Spectrum SportsNet reporter Megan Reza Kazemi delivered the news we’ve all been waiting to hear.
Romain Alessandrini has officially returned to training. It was previously announced the LA Galaxy attacker would be practicing with the team but today is Romain’s first day of action alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristian Pavón and the rest of Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s squad.
There are questions surrounding Alessandrini, namely, with a limited timeframe to work his way into shape and get comfortable on the ball can the Designated Player still make an impact this season?

When the announcement was made the projection was for Romain to return mid-September, but as we predicted at the time the end of the month was a more realistic possibility.
Galaxy fans will recall Alessandrini struggling with his touch at the beginning of the season as the Frenchman was still working his way into match fitness. Though lethal in the attack, Romain needs precision in the final third to really be effective.
With this in mind, expect Alessandrini to operate as a super-sub for Guille when he makes his return.
