LA Galaxy buy out Giovani dos Santos

The Mexican international is no longer a LA Galaxy player

And just like that, Giovani dos Santos is no longer a LA Galaxy player.

The LA Times’ Kevin Baxter is now reporting that the club and player have agreed to part ways after a four-year relationship that began with significant promise but will ultimately go down as an ambitious failure. By shedding his $6 million price tag, LA are now roster compliant with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romain Alessandrini and brother Jonathan dos Santos as Designated Players ahead of Saturday’s opener vs. the Chicago Fire. The 29-year old Mexican international was rarely seen around training this winter and did not appear in any of the preseason friendlies.

Though the Galaxy bought out his contract and the club no longer retains his rights, dos Santos is still attached to the league. This means Gio can either be waived and move on to another MLS club or the league must loan him somewhere else.
