Following the LA Galaxy’s 1-0 defeat of the Colorado Rapids, the players, and Bruce Arena, are focused, knowing that the job is not quite done.
Giovani dos Santos got the Galaxy ahead in the 55th minute, heading the ball past Tim Howard, and held on defensively for the rest of the afternoon.

Landon Donovan knew the importance of this victory saying, “Our goal this week was to score and not get scored on, and so we achieved that. 2-0 or 3-0 would have been ideal, but in the end, we give ourselves a chance, a real chance to advance. So we rest, recover, and the reality is that if we don’t get scored on, we advance.”
Next weekend, they travel to Colorado, where the environmental surroundings will be difficult.
Bruce Arena said of playing in the altitude, “Everyone knows what the scores is, you can’t hide that fact. We go into a venue that’s difficult; you’re playing at altitude. I think, typically, you never play the same game there as you do here because of the environmental conditions, so it will be somewhat different.”
While times have not yet been announced for kickoff, we do know that the second leg of the MLS Western Conference semi-finals will take place a week from today.
