LA Galaxy designated player Robbie Keane has been awarded the 2014 MLS MVP, after a nineteen goal and fourteen assist performance that was the best combination of the two categories in the league this season. He's the first Galaxy player to win the award since Landon Donovan in 2009.
Keane's goal and assist totals were career highs for him, as the striker has bettered or equaled his previous year's goal total every year he's been in the league. In each of his three full seasons he's been a double digit goalscorer, and for the past two seasons he's reached double digits in assists.
While the announcement isn't being made officially until 2pm pacific, the Los Angeles Times has already made the report (link) and the Keane MVP poster campaign has been featured around the city of Los Angeles.
