LA Galaxy can't convert, Seattle Sounders win Supporters' Shield

Leonardo did fine standing in for Omar Gonzalez, but Robbie Keane's presence was missed as the LA Galaxy failed to make anything happen offensively.

The LA Galaxy lost 2-0 to the Seattle Sounders today, a loss that gave the Seattle Sounders the Supporters' Shield outright with LA finishing second in the Western Conference. Second overall in MLS is still up for grabs with DC Untied capable in pulling level on points with a win today and holding the tiebreaker.

LA's opponent in the playoffs will be the third place finisher, also up for grabs between Dallas and RSL. Salt Lake's regular season is over, and Dallas can leapfrog them with a win today over Portland.

As to the game itself, LA performed quite well considering they were without Omar Gonzalez and Robbie Keane. Leonardo had some key stops while registering eight blocks, clearances, and interceptions. He also had four recoveries as LA was able to control possession.

Between Donovan and Zardes, the Donovan cross into the penalty area just before the end of ninety minutes was the only dangerous key pass. The only shot attempted inside the penalty area was a blocked shot taken by Donovan in the 74'. Robbie Keane's absence was felt significantly more than Gonzalez.

More on this story as quotes begin to trickle out, but LA needs to get fully healthy before the playoff push begins.
