Heartbreak in Utah as Galaxy drop third straight on the road.

The LA Galaxy wrapped up their brief, three match, road trip tonight, as they traveled to Utah to face Real Salt Lake. The team were looking to shake off their recent slump, and avoid losing all three matches on the road. Despite their best efforts, Real Salt Lake were able to come away with a 2-1 win at home.

It’s been the story of the last handful of matches. The Galaxy do well to start off strong, Creating space, making great runs into the box, picking out the right passes on most occasion, however, the end result hasn't been there. That trend continued in the first half of this one.

The Galaxy controlled possession, 63% - 37%, and finished the half with seven shots to RSL’s two. Unfortunately, LA were unable to convert their chances, and on the lone shot on goal in the half for the home side, RSL took the lead late in the first half.

LA came out the second half, picking up right where they left off. Peppering the goal with chance, after chance, after chance. It was starting to look like another match full of “what could've beens”, but Chicharito would save the day. In the 76th minute, the Mexican was finally able to put one of his handful of chances, into the back of the net, equalizing the match at one goal each.

In a startling moment of déjà vu, Real Salt Lake closed out the match with the winning goal in the waning moments of the match. The goal was not only a blow for the match, but a blow for the long-term. LA fall to sixth place after the 2-1 loss, and drop their third straight, losing all their matches for this road trip. The next match will have more than just playoff positioning on the line, as they welcome LA rivals, LAFC, to their house. Let’s hope they can get back on track at home, and find some momentum as the season comes to a close.
