LA Galaxy II added another player to their 2021 roster Thursday, announcing the addition of midfielder Axel Picazo. The 19-year-old joins after playing the last two seasons with the Philadelphia Union’s USL team, where he made 35 appearances, scoring three goals and three assists.

“We are very excited to welcome Axel to LA Galaxy II,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese in a team statement. “He is a young and talented player who will add depth to our midfield as he continues to develop. We look forward to him contributing to our club.”

Picazo was born in Mexico City, and moved to Texas with his family at the age of 10. He played for Lonestar Soccer Club in Austin, before joining the Union’s residency academy in 2016. He’s been called up to the U.S. U-18 National Team in the past.

Picazo is the third newcomer signed by Los Dos so far in 2021, joining Alex Alcala and Taylor Davila. We’ll see how many additional new signings are made before the upcoming USL Championship season kicks off around May 1.
