It’s been a disappointing season for Chicharito, with the LA Galaxy star scoring just one goal to date in an injury-riddled debut season in MLS. But is he on the move already?
That was denied, straight up, by Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese during a halftime interview with ESPN on Wednesday, with the Galaxy trailing 3-0 at the Portland Timbers.
Te Kloese, conspicuously at the game in Portland, was asked by ESPN color commentator Taylor Twellman directly if Chicharito would be loaned to Chivas de Guadalajara — Chicharito’s first club — with an option to buy.
“I think it’s been a very challenging year for everybody and certainly for Javier we obviously had him come in with high, high expectations, from him, from ourselves, from everybody,” Te Kloese said. “We haven’t been able to connect these high expectations so far. There is no truth to any rumors on him going to Chivas or anything else.”
So there you have it. Obviously you never know what will happen, but I can’t see the Galaxy letting Chicharito go unless it’s totally untenable. Are we at that point? We’ll only know as time passes, but Te Kloese’s denial seems pretty emphatic.
