“I’m the best ever player in MLS” declared a confident Zlatan Ibrahimovic following the LA Galaxy’s demolition of Sporting Kansas City in which Ibra recorded a hat trick. Now with 26 goals for the 2019 campaign, Ibrahimovic is just two behind LAFC’s Carlos Vela in the Golden Boot race. Can Zlatan catch up to the Mexican international in time?
Most definitely yes. Zlatan has been red-hot in form, scoring 10 goals his past six matches while Vela has six in six. Still prolific, but not at Ibra’s current pace.
Both teams have plenty to fight for in their remaining four matches: LAFC want to break records while LA need favorable seeding. Though the Black and Gold have three home matches as opposed to two for the Galaxy, Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s side plays three teams below the playoff line while LAFC face a considerably tougher slate of opponents to close out the season.
