As MLS teams show more ambition and increasingly attempt to sign elite young talent, front offices are discovering the adventure of acquiring players in the South American transfer market, one that can resemble a marathon at times.

On Thursday, Dennis te Kloese and the LA Galaxy organization submitted a final offer of $18 million for Pavon’s rights with a 48 hour timeline. When word came on Sunday that Boca Juniors rejected the offer shortly before their season opener, many believed the deal was dead.

Not so, according to Martin Costa of TNT Sports. The Argentine outlet is claiming Boca indeed rejected the offer but has since come back with a counter offer: Loan Pavon to LA for the remainder of the 2019 season with a purchase option. (Apparently they weren’t very happy about surrendering 100% of his rights)

The MLS secondary transfer works closes August 7th, so the two parties will have to come to an agreement quickly.
