LA Galaxy to host Orange County FC in U.S. Open Cup

Fourth division squad has jettisoned a pair of USL teams

Seems like the LA Galaxy caught a break.

The U.S. Soccer Federation conducted a draw this morning to determine the 16 matchups in fourth round Open Cup play, and LA have been paired with cup darlings Orange County FC of the fourth-division National Premier Soccer League. Led by former Galaxy defender Paul Caligiuri, the group with admittedly beautiful black and blue kits have done a magnificent job making it this far in the competition, first by topping their neighbors Orange County SC in penalties before putting on a show in Vegas with a entertaining 5-3 victory over Lights FC.

While Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s group host OCFC next month, their cross-town rivals travel to Utah to take on a MLS side in Mike Petke’s Real Salt Lake.

This draw determines the home and away sides for the 16 matchups during this round. The #USOC2019 Fourth Round is scheduled for June 11-12. Exact dates, times and venues will be released later today.
